As I googled my way around the world, I found a few sites that might whet your appetite for this journey:
- Marian Patronage Around the World - an interactive map from The Mary Page, a site which is itself a treasure trove of information. On the title page, click on the "P" in the blue disk that appears to the left - it took me a while to figure this out! Select a continent, then scroll over the markers to see the Marian patronal image, or click on them for information.
- There's Something About Mary - fifteen stories about Mary by Ann Ball on the Holy Spirit Interactive website.
- Marian Shrines Around the World - short histories by Fr. John A. Hardon.
- Pictures of Mary from the Boston Catholic Journal - only a few "round the world" pictures, but this page has some beautiful images.
- Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Washington
- Basilica of the Annunciation, Nazareth - the upper Church has a series of mosaics of Mary given by communities around the world. You can see a few of them here.
I am planning to get posts up a day or so ahead of time. Watch this space!
