He saw.
He conquered.
Terry-the-very-nice-washing-machine-repair-man replaced the brushes (what brushes?) and the machine is now whirring round making whizzy happy washer noises.
And the cost of the repair was less than the amount I estimate my home made laundry liquid will save me this year.

I'm so glad it was okay!
My machine gets clogged up by powder (at least, the dispenser does), but I can't see any way a liquid could harm it, unless it was very sticky in consistency or had some gut rotting chemical in it, which your detergent doesn't, Lucy :).
